Why Do I Need a Reassessment?

Every client who comes to see me has an initial appointment and then a reassessment appointments. Usually to start with reassessment appointment are every 12 sessions, but as we both get to know your body better and how it responds to treatment, we can have the reassessment appointments further apart.

During a reassessment appointment we have a chat about your health, go through your forms and history and then perform some physical and postural assessments as well as a general palpation of the body. I also take photographs so I can compare previous photos. This all takes a little longer than a standard appointment but it is well worth it!

I have typically found that clients come to me with an initial health concern like sore knees, a painful lower back, general aches and pains or headaches. Often, after a period of time (sometimes several, several appointments) the symptoms either change or possibly even disappear. Reassessment appointments help us track the changes in the body and we get to celebrate those. What is really common is for a person’s awareness to move to the next complaint and forget where their body was initially - “But my right shoulder is sore and not getting better!” and the client has come to me with lower back pain which has now changed and the blockages dissipated. They may have less pain, more movement and flexibility but forget that they came with a bad back! A reassessment is a good reminder that the body is changing, sometimes our minds just need a reminder.

Reassessing the body also helps to keep you accountable for what is going on in your life and what may be holding back the healing or adding additional layers of blockages to the body. For example if you are a builder or a cleaner and you have problems with your lower back, it may be caused by the twisting and turning so changes may have to be made either to your profession or the way you do the job. That would be a physical stress you need to address. An emotional stress that may need addressing is a toxic relationship or grief stored in the body and a chemical stress may be some of the foods you are eating or the products you are putting on your skin.

Ultimately I see my role as a partnership with my clients, my job is to help your body tap into its innate healing wisdom. I will always do my absolute best to help in any way I can, that is what I am passionate about, however, I can’t do all the work for you. It simply isn’t possible. The greatest amount of healing is going to occur when you become aware of the stressors in your life and what needs addressing and changing. Taking responsibility for your own health and being present for the decisions you make is a game changer for your health.

Please note: These results may not be typical and may take many appointments to achieve. It is by no way a guarantee that a client will experience the results talked about here.
